Dr. Kari Janz

My approach to therapy comes from a position of care and compassion. It is also action-oriented and direct when necessary, providing accountability, and challenging people to take incremental steps toward meaningful change. Grounded in existential philosophy, I take a positive view of mental health and think both within and beyond diagnostic lines.

Education and Training

I have a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from OISE, University of Toronto and my PhD work focused on the growing mental health crisis across Canada and the US. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings, including York University’s student counselling and health psychology departments as both an instructor and therapist, York Central Hospital’s ASD program for behavioral intervention, and I’ve been in private practice since 2015.
